The Key 2

On completing the first three sessions, The Key 2 encourages youth and children’s leaders and volunteers to explore their work and ministry deeper. With three more sessions specifically focussing on key areas of youth and children’s ministry, delegates will feel more confident, equipped and empowered.


The Aims

The core aims of The Key 2 are:

  • To gain a better understanding of the world through the eyes of children and young people
  • Explore discipleship and nurturing children and young people in their faith journey
  • Become more confident and equipped when working in a variety of roles and settings

The Key 2 has also been designed to be delivered to small and large groups. Each session lasts for approximately 2 hours and can be delivered on three separate occasions or as a full day.

Aim of the session:
To help those who work with children and young people see the world through the eyes of a young person and understand children’s and youth work in the wider context.

Learning outcomes:

  • To gain an understanding of the world that children and young people live in, their influences, pressures and opportunities
  • To explore their identity as leaders/volunteers and the responsibilities that underpin
    their work with children and
    young people
  • To introduce some core children’s and youth work values into their
    own context

Aim of the session:
To encourage those who work with children and young people to reflect on their own faith journey and gain the confidence and skills needed for developing work and discipleship.

Learning outcomes:

  • Have an awareness of the difference between spirituality
    and faith
  • Identify significant spiritual and faith
    experiences in their lives and how they affect their work with children and young people
  • Equip children and young people to
    explore faith and share with others

Aim of the session:
To inspire those who work with children and young people to become more confident and develop their skills and conduct as caring Christian youth and children’s leaders and volunteers.

Learning outcomes:

  • Develop listening skills with
    particular focus on pastoral care
    of children and young people
  • Recognise the different roles individuals take on in a group
    work context and how best to facilitate them
  • Identify and apply the skills, qualities
    and gifts needed in leadership
  • Engage and empower children
    and young people in leadership opportunities
